On 4 May this year, Bucyrus International, Inc. completed the largest acquisition in its 127 year history by purchasing DBT GmbH, a subsidiary of RAG Coal International AG. DBT is a supplier of complete system solutions for underground coal mining worldwide. The combined company, now serving both the surface and underground mining industries, has over 200 years of combined mining industry experience. Bucyrus is a well-established global leader in the surface mining equipment industry, designing and manufacturing electric rope shovels, blasthole drills and walking draglines. In addition to mining machinery, Bucyrus manufactures OEM parts and provides support services for all Bucyrus machine brands including Bucyrus, Bucyrus-Erie, Marion, and Ransomes Rapier.
