Centrifuges used in coal preparation operations can typically be divided into two basic categories: Filtration centrifuges (vibratory and screen-scroll). Sedimentation centrifuges (solid-bowl and screen-bowl). Filtration centrifuges are also classified as either vertical or horizontal, with this designation describing the orientation of the axis of rotation of the screen. Both slyles have advantages and disadvantages, as well as fans and detractors.
