The Rotterdam deepwater transhipment terminal, EMO, broke a record by discharging 36 million t in 2000. For the first six months of this year, an even higher level has been reached.In meeting the needs of the growing coal market, the release of EMO's fourth berth at the Mississippi harbour has been an important element. Now four of the largest vessels (up to 350000 dwt) can be moored alongside the terminal.
