Funding begins in India

The green wing of the World Bank - the Global Environment Facility (GEF),which was established under the United Nations framework for climate change,will fund coal power projects for the first time in its existence,beginning with Indian projects.The GEF will grant US 45.4 million for the power ministry to rehabilitate three of its coal-fired power plants to reduce carbon emissions.
