JiNing No. 3 coal mine of Yanzhou Mine Group is an oversize modern mine, with a throughput of approximately 5 million tpa. Its construction began in 1993 and it was launched into trail production in 1999. On 28 December 2000 the mine passed a check by the National Check & Acceptance Committee and duly began formal production. Output of coal grew from 5 million tpa to 10 million tpa last year. Honeywell's system has been introduced for the safety monitoring and control system of JiNing No. 3 coal mine. The construction of the system began in November 2000, with operations beginning in April 2001. The system adopted a real time network topological structure. Thus it was characterised by improved functions, such as like safety monitoring, production monitoring and management. These allow real-time data collection, transmission, processing, display, printing and centralised monitoring of the coal stream inside the mine. Environment parameters are monitored during the production process of the main section throughout the mine, so as to ensure the safety of all the mine equipment and staff.
