State-of-the-art blending

It seems hard to believe that online real-time coal blending has been in existence for more than 15 years.The first automat-ed blending took place in 1988 at peabody's Hawthorn mine,Indiana.With a single control parameter (sulphur) and only three sources,a Gamma-Metrics 1812C coal analyser and the accompanying Gamma-Metrics' COBOS~(?) blending software were able to reduce variations in the shipped quality by 65%.
