In 1965 Maerz Ofenbau AG,domiciled in the city of Zurich,Switzerland,started to design and construct Parallel Flow Regenerative Lime Shaft Kilns.This process produces highly reactive lime of the best quality with the highest fuel efficiency of all modern lime kilns.Heat consumption is in the range of 3500 kJ per kg (850 kcal per kg or 3.2 Mio.B Tu per ton) of lime.
