With the arrival of a new fleet of state-of-the-art rail wagons, Tarmac boosted its capability to deliver aggregates via rail from its Mountsorrel Quarry in Leicestershire. Leased from European hire company Ermewa, the 53 hoppers and 48 boxes each have the capability to haul over 77 t of material, increasing train capacity by over 15%. The wagons are already in operation, enabling Tarmac to deliver product more efficiently to its wide network of terminals across the Midlands and the South East.
