Automobiles are parts of our everyday life. We require higher performance, higher comfort, and higher reliability from them. On the other hand, a sudden steep rise of the price of petroleum resources and a concern on the environmental resulted in a demand for higher gas mileage. The transmission, which delivers the power of an automobile engine to the axles, is an important unit of an automobile, and companies try daily to improve the unit to meet customer requirements. However, at present, a lubricant is an important component as well. Using the functions of newly designed transmissions 100% of the time is impossible without introducing new technological developments. In this work, new transmission technologies, such as the step-type automatic transmission (AT), the push belt type continuously variable transmission (CVT), and the dual clutch transmission (DCT) and lubricant additives used to revive all the functions of the above transmissions are considered.
