A serious handicap of most of the low cost CNC lathes found in enthusiasts' workshops is the absence of a computer controlled tool changing device. Also, in many cases the spindle speed can only be set manually. However, different tools and speeds are necessary, even for the production of very simple parts, and then, during the manufacture in process the lathe must be stopped several times for changing the tool and adjusting the speed. For the operator, this is a very tedious procedure.
