A New Taiwanese Species of the Genus Archarius Collected from Taiwan Beech (Coleoptera, Curculionidae, Curculioninae)

A new curculionine species collected from Fagus hayatae (Taiwan beech) is described from Taiwan as Archarius (Archarius) prominentatus Notsu, sp. nov.The subtribe Archariina comprised only two genera, Archarius and Pagumia, is characterized by the following features: body length is 3mm or less; antennal club is compact; mesosternal process is flat. They are distributed in the Palaearctic and the Oriental regions (Fig. 11). Of those, ten species of Archarius have been known from Taiwan so far.
