Caliroa nara sp. nov. (Hymenoptera, Tenthredinidae) is described from Japan (Hokkaido and Honshu) and Korea. The larvae are gregarious leaf feeders on Quercus spp. Severe defoliation by the sawfly has been observed in Aomori Prefecture, Honshu, Japan since 2004 and in Gyeongsangbuk-do, Korea from 1996 to 2000. A Chinese species, C. angustata Forsius, 1927, is redescribed based on the holotype. The diagnostic characters of a Holarctic species, C. annulipes (Klug, 1816), are discussed.
