Identity of the Korean Earwig Recorded as Challia sp. (Dermaptera, Pygidicranidae)

Challia sp. recorded from Korea in my previous paper on Challinae (NISHIKAWA, 2006) was re-examined, and it is conclusively identified with Challia taewooi NISHKAWA, 2006. NISHIKAWA (2006) reviewed the genus Challia BURR, 1904 and dealt with 7 species(4 known and 3 new species) and an unidentified female specimen (Challia sp. from Korea). In the paper, he has described C. sp., "This is presumably the female of C. taewooi sp. nov. but cannot be fully identified in the absence of the male specimen. Itis distinct from the females of C. taewooi sp. nov. and C. fletcheri by having the abdominal tergites I-III which are granulose and dull (I-IV in the latter). However, since this character varies intraspecifically in C. imamurai sp. nov., it is proved to be unstable characters."
