Japanese species of the genus Kateretes HERBST are taxonomically treated. Kateretes japonicus HISAMATSU is re-described, and the data of type series are shown. Kateretes takagii sp. nov. is described from Hokkaido. A key to the two Japanese species of the genus Kateretes HERBST is provided.
