摘要

The faunal remains of the "Frankenbacher Schotter" (Frankenbach gravel) consist of 15 large mammals, including the beaver. There are no recordsof hominids and small mammals. As for river deposits, typically a predominance of herbivores can be recognized. The accumulation of remains canbe described as a grave community. Most bones are transported by the Neckar from different flood plains and are deposited in the sedimentation basinof the Heilbronn syncline. A comparison of the remains from the "Frankenbacher Schotter" with those of the site from Mauer confirm an allocation in the Cromer complex. The gravel pit Ingelfinger, near the village Heilbronn-Frankenbach, plays an important role in the research of the Frankenbach gravel. As the last stillexisting larger outcrop of Cromerian Neckar sediments, covered with Middle till Upper Pleistocene loess and soil layers, it was possible to not onlybring the gravel pit under natural and geological heritage protection but also to open a visitors platform for the public with information plates in 2008.
