Membrane technologies are popular in various industries. Atypical membrane is a metal, polymer, or ceramic solid partition capable of transmitting certain components of gaseous and liquid media. Porous ceramic membranes have many merits, among which are high heat resistance (such membranes are serviceable until 1000°C), chemical inertness, and high mechanical strength [1], Fine-pored ceramic membranes are widely used in purification of gases and liquids, including drinking and waste water. There are several methods for controlling the porous structure of ceramic membranes. Particularly promising is the method of combustible additives. Using carbon nano-tubes (CNTs) and carbon nanofilaments (CNFs) as such combustible additives has not yet been described [2—6]. Nonetheless, it can be believed that using extended carbon particles of nanometer diameter as combustible additives will open new possibilities in controlling the porous structure.
