摘要

Zinc oxide is a semiconductor with a wide spectrum of use. Last years, the oxide has been extensively studied as a catalyst for the photocatalytic oxidation of toxic organic compounds, detoxication of water and air contaminated by pathogenic bacteria, and as an active element of the cells for water decomposition by sunlight. A special place in these studies is occupied by the development of methods of synthesis of various micro- and nanoforms of quasi-one-dimensional (1D) zinc oxide (whiskers, fibers, tubes, and others) doped with d elements, which is caused by the necessity to increase the ZnO photocatalytic activity and to shift it from the characteristic ultraviolet to the visible spectrum [1—6].
