The Steco Corporation, makers of Tap Magic cutting fluids, has introduced Tap Magic Xtra-Thick, a super heavy-duty cutting fluid for machining work on inconel, titanium, stainless steel and other hard metals up to 45 Rockwell. As suggested by its name, Tap Magic Xtra-Thick has a higher viscosity than most cutting fluids on the market today. The new fluid eliminates "work hardening"-the process of a metal becoming harder during the cutting operation. It also features an extended cling time, so a single application stays with the tool and work piece for cuts of long duration. The clinging action of Tap Magic Xtra-Thick makes it ideal for reaming, lathe and mill work since it stays on the work piece and tool during high speed rotation.
