Perylene-3,4,9,10-tetracarboxylic acid dianhydride (PTCD) is an intermediate in the synthesis of organic dyes having the following characteristic properties: bright-red color, total absence of solubility in water or in organic solvents, high thermal and pho-tolytic stability, and luminescence in the red spectral region.
