摘要

Kittiwake (Rissa tridactyla) differs from other gullspecies inhabiting the Barents Sea in a marked colonybuilding and ichtyophagy. These traits, as well as highnumbers and wide distribution in Arctic and sub-Arctic areas, have inspired a great interest in the characteristics of the kittiwake biology, including their infestation by parasites. The helminth parasite fauna of kittiwakes of the Barents Sea has beenstudied insufficient detail. Research in this field has been carriedout in the Seven Islands (Eastern Murman), FranzJosef Land, Novaya Zemlya, and Spitsbergen archipelagoes [1-5]. In these studies, the birds' parasitefauna has been identified, specific features of the functioning of parasitical systems in various areas of theBarents Sea have been revealed, and schemes of lifecycles of some helminth species have been established. In recent papers, the major trends of long-termchanges in the parasite fauna of the birds were tracedin connection with dramatic environmental changesin the region.
