Casting Defects and their Relation to Die Cavitation

There is an urgent need to bring more awareness to cavitation failure in high pressure die cast tooling and its relationship to casting defects. Damage from the cavitation phenomena occurs in other fluid dynamics and has been studied for well over 100 years. This mode of failure is slowly being recognized and added to the list of high pressure die casting (HPDC) die failures.
