North American die casting companies have seen tremendous competition from oversees die casters; however, zinc shipments have remained relatively consistent over the last four years. We seem to be in a time when only the strongest die casters survive. Today's existing "strong" die casting companies have been forced to look outside their comfort box for new opportunities. Instead of competing for existing tools, they have reached out to other industries and products and have marketed the concept of zinc die casting versus competing materials and processes. This is not an easy task, as it takes much time to market and develop new programs.
