Shielded motor helps wind tunnel to stay cool

Excessive temperature rises in a new ￡55m wind tunnel have been avoided by encasing the 110kW fan motor in a special shield. Mercedes AMG Petronas has built a ￡55m wind tunnel at Coventry University's engineering and computing facility to model the behaviour of objects ranging from bicycles to Formula 1 cars.
