Eclale is a Hampshire-based manufacturer which specialises in narrow web printing presses and converting machinery. Its new FL series Flexographic machine is a high-productivity, cost-efficient printing system for producing labels and packaging. It offers several improvements in print roller positioning and results in highly accurate print registers for multi-colour printing. Edale's design for the new printing machine called for a single servodrive to power up to eight print rollers via precision line shafts. To achieve this, it needed compact, efficient, high-torque spiral-bevel gearboxes. The drive system also needed to minimise accumulative backlash in the drivetrain to ensure print quality. Edale asked the Bedford-based power transmission distributor Drive Lines Technologies to help develop a precision drive system for the new printing machine.
