Dual-redundant PLCs control ￡17m Welsh treatment plant

A ￡17m project at a water treatment works in North Wales involves more than 1,000 I/O points. The plant is using a redundant control system to ensure reliability. Dee Valley Water's new flagship water treatment works at Llwyn Onn in North Wales, has the capacity to produce 47,000m~3 of drinking water per day for Wrexham and the surrounding area. As well as providing standard treatment processes, the ￡17m project include an automated system for removing manganese, a mineral that occurs naturally in the surface water in the Dee Valley area.
