Operational problems a large sludge pump at a United Utilities' wastewater treatment plant in Oldham resulted in damage to its bearings and crankshaft. Eriks Electro Mechanical Services was commissioned to refurbish and repair the pump, including straightening the crankshaft, replacing its bearings, realigning the drive, and re-assembling and commissioning the pump on site. The contract was worth more than ￡200,000.
