摘要

Prompted by the global interest in the intellectual property regime a workshop was convened in New Delhi, in January 1999, to discuss and provide expert thinking on the conflicts and complementarities between the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) and the Agreement on Trade Related Aspects of Intellectual Property Rights (TRIPs) of the World Trade Organization (WTO). More than 60 academics, activists, researchers, non-governmental organization (NGO) representatives, government officials, and representatives of industry from India and other South Asian countries, Europe, and the United States participated in the workshop. The Workshop entitled "Biodiversity Conservation and Intellectual Property Rights," was sponsored by the Research and Information System on Non-Aligned and Developing Countries (PIS) and The World Conservation Union (IUCN).
