Extensive reference on commercially valuable plants published by USDA: wealth of geographic, taxonomic, and economic information

An extensive reference on economic plants has just been published by the USDA Agricultural Research Service's (ARS) Systematic Botany and Mycology Laboratory, under a Cooperative Research and Development Agreement (CRADA) negotiated in 1997. World Economic Plants: A Standard Reference, provides essential data in a concise and easily accessible format for over 9,500 vascular plants of commercial importance throughout the world. The approximately 800-page book makes available to both scientists ami non-scientists up-to-date scientific names for vascular plants that are traded, regulated, or otherwise directly or indirectly important to international commerce, as well as plants with potential for widespread economic usage or those having a negative economic impact, such as weeds and poisonous plants.
