In the wake of Hurricane Mitch, world attention was focused on Central America, underscoring the need for preserving the region's environmental treasures of the region and fostering sustainable development. One of the few rays of light toward which the devastated region can look for ways to mitigate such disasters in the future is the Mesoamerican Biological Corridor (MBC), one of the largest and most unique environmental conservation efforts presently underway in the world.
