Not Just Fun and Games: Harnessing Technology to Address Childhood Obesity

Primary care is integral in the prevention and treatment of childhood obesity. However, obesity interventions that have often been successful in the research setting are not feasible in primary care settings. Time constraints, lack of reimbursement, and lack of expertise in the use of these methods have been identified as barriers to bridging successful interventions into primary care settings.1 Yet, emerging technologies provide novel approaches to obesity prevention and treatment that transform the ability of healthcare professionals to address obesity comprehensively and efficiently.
