The interaction of a shock wave with a contact discontinuity for local heat release in a flow is examined. It is possible to single out the line recently developed and related to the possibility of attenuating a shock wave after the passage of the thermal layer formed by a pulse-periodic energy source. Depending on the wake type, various modes of interaction of the incident shock wave with the wake after the energy source can be formed. Depending on the pulse periodic supplied energy, various situations inside the energy supply region are possible. It depends on the frequency and amount of supplied energy. The flow inside the energy supply region can be only subsonic or mixed. In the first mode, the shock wave intersects the wake from the energy source. In the second mode, the shock wave reflected from the wall does not intersect the wake, but a relatively powerful set of new shock waves is formed in the wake.
