A model of the appearance of instability of acoustic vibrations of gas in a chamber upon jet outflow through its nozzle is presented. The assumption appeared that secondary vortex rings are not the cause but a consequence of the appearance of intrinsic acoustic vibrations in a chamber, which can be unstable as a result of feedback with vortex motions. The problem is in determination of this dependence and in establishment of the conditions of appearance of instability. Schematically, the solution of the problem as a whole can be divided into the three following stages. It is assumed that the time independent gas motion on the whole is potential. By virtue of the fact that the natures of acoustic and vortex vibrations of gas are different, it is reasonable to divide the potential of velocity of its vibration motion into two components.
