We study the conditions under which a boundary value problem for a differential-difference equation has a classical solution for any continuous right-hand side. Assuming that the problem in question has a weak solution, it turns out that a classical solution of the problem exists if and only if the derivatives of the unknown function involved in the equation have no argument shifts.
