Giant gastric polyp resection using two poly loops and endoscopic submucosal dissection technique

A 65-year-old man presented with non-specific abdominal discomfort and occult gastrointestinal bleeding. Upper endoscopy revealed a giant gastric mass with a broad base in the gastric body. Endoscopic ultrasound using a radial echoendoscope showed an isoechoic tumor that did not reach the muscularis propria with a feeding vessel, measuring 7x3 cm in size. Histological study was compatible with a hyperplastic polyp and adenomatous changes. Due to its large size, we rejected the conventional technique of polypectomy and decided to remove it using endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) devices. Two poly loops were placed to improve visualization of its base, reduce its overall size and risk of bleeding. After 7 days, the image of the polyp base had improved (Fig. 1).
