A 50 million dollars investment agreement with Multinet Gas will link Inverloch, Korumburra, Lang Lang, Leongatha and Wonthaggi to the natural gas network by 2010. The Minister for Regional and Rural Development, John Brumby, said, "Multinet estimates it will initially lay about 20 km of high-pressure transmission pipeline, 57 km of supply mains and over 182 km of distributions mains, passing approximately 10,000 dwellings in South Gippsland, with gas becoming available progressively to the five towns from 2007." The extended gas network will draw natural gas from the BassGas processing plant at Lang Lang, built to commercialise gas from the Yolla gas field in Bass Strait.
