You know something is going on when even the guys on "This Old House" are getting into the act. There they were, installing a standby gen-set in the back yard of one of those great old homes in Boston. It looked easy and the budget numbers they were kicking around (USD6500 installed for a 15 kW natural gas set) were pretty intriguing. It fit right in with the tone at the spring convention of the Electrical Generating Systems Association (EGSA), where the spin on the outlook for residential and small commercial standbys was rather optimistic.
