Everyone has heard the saying "what goes around comes around." The renewed interest in hydromechanical transmissions is a classic example of the truth of that expression. The reason for interest in HMTs, both in the early 1970s and now, is that conventional HSTs have a limitation in the speed range over which they may be used with reasonable efficiency.
