If It Looks Like A Roller Coaster ... It's been a difficult year and 2010 looks like it won't be too much better; a 'new normal?'

One year ago it was fairly evident that 2009 was going to be a difficult year. It wasn't apparent - to even the best of forecasters - that the cascading events of economic collapse, not only in North America but around the world, would have the impact that has unfolded. Given that experience, it is kind of interesting to see who would actually be crazy enough to try and forecast what will happen from here. Actually, "crazy" is one of the milder appellations flung in this direction, so here goes.
