STARTING WITH A GOOD IDEA: inspired by idea from the field, KBi develops new portable engine cold-starting aid

Good ideas sometimes come from unlikely places. For a case in point, consider the newest engine starting aid from Kold-Ban International (KBi). KBi, a specialist in fluid-based cold weather engine starting systems, recently developed a new portable engine starting system designed to provide quick, reliable starting for engines between 20 and 200 L displacement. The KBi NVT Porta Pack starting fluid (ether) injection system is a self-contained unit that is engineered to deliver a precisely metered amount of engine starting fluid into the engine air intake system through an injection probe. Remotely operated by a single user, it can start as many as 45 locomotive-size engines on a single starting fluid cylinder. The Porta Pack can also be used to start construction and mining equipment, along with any other heavy-duty internal combustion engine.
