NEW DIESEL GEN-SETS TO FUEL MTU DETROIT DIESEL GROWTH: more powerful and cleaner Series 4000 diesel engine and gas engine competence center unveiled

The year 2006 continues to be a busy one for MTU Detroit Diesel. The former off-highway division of Detroit Diesel Corp. broke away to form its own company on Jan. 1. In March, it was included in the sale of DaimlerChrysler's Off-Highway Business Unit to Swedish investment group EQT. Shortly thereafter, its parent company, MTU Friedrichshafen, completed an acquisition of gaseous-fuel engine specialist MDE, Augsburg, Germany, a deal that was in process prior to the EQT acquisition. Along with that, MTU Group, the holding company of MTU Friedrichshafen and MTU Detroit Diesel, announced it has changed its name to Tognum GmbH (see related story).
