WHO'S DRIVING? - Oshkosh Truck teams with Rockwell Collins, Italian university on autonomous truck for DARPA competition

Oshkosh Truck Corp., along with its Team TerraMax partners Rockwell Collins and the University of Parma, Italy, has been selected for the evaluation stage of the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) Grand Challenge 2005, an autonomous 175-mile off-road race in the Mojave Desert (see May 2005 Diesel Progress). The team has entered its TerraMax robotic vehicle which sits on Oshkosh's Medium Tactical Vehicle Replacement (MTVR) platform and uses technology from all three parties to make it completely autonomous.
