UP AND RUNNING - JCB begins new engine production; worldwide debut set for ConExpo

JCB has started production of its new range of diesel engines, with some of the power plants already undergoing testing around the world. Around 200 engines a month are being built, although this is gradually being ramped up by the company toward its aim of producing 25,000 a year by the end of 2005 and 40,000 annually by the end of 2006. The start of production represents a significant milestone for JCB which announced it was moving into engine building in August 2003 after some 25 years of industry speculation. The news comes as JCB also prepares for a series of new product launches at ConExpo-Con/Agg in Las Vegas, where the engines will make their worldwide debut.
