Scania launches powerful new marine unit

Its most powerful-ever marine engine has been launched by Scania Industrial and Marine Engines to meet the ever-increasing demand for more power in the workboat market. The D116M is a direct-injection V-8 diesel power unit with commercial power ratings of 368-588 kW (500-800 hp). It was previewed in London recently and is due to make its first public appearance at the forthcoming International Boat Show in London and Boot 2002 in Dusseldorf, Germany, both held in January 2002. Production is scheduled to commence early in 2002.
