further emissions regulations for both on- and off-road vehicles continue to present engineering challenges for engine makers and OEMs. One such approaching regulation is the European Commission's proposal for Stage 5 off-highway regulations, which could take effect throughout the European Union from 2019. The increasingly tighter limits on the amount of pollutants and particles that vehicles release has revealed trends in emissions reduction, and have prompted the development of new and enhanced emissions technologies.
