MAN To MAN DECISION: JOINING OF MAN'S DIESEL AND TURBO BUSINESSES SEEN AS CUSHION AGAINST GLOBAL ECONOMIC FLUCTUATIONS

The decision by MAN to eventually bring together its MAN Diesel SE and MAN Turbo AG interests represents an engineering industry shake-up. MAN Diesel makes large-bore diesel engines for ships, power plants and generator sets as well as turbochargers, propellers and complete propulsion packages. The company maintains manufacturing facilities in Germany, Denmark, France, Czech Republic, India and China. With its head office in Oberhausen, Germany, and plants in Berlin, Germany; Zurich, Switzerland; and Schio, Italy, MAN Turbo specializes in compressors, gas and steam turbines. The two companies, both part of Munich, Germany-based MAN SE, will be joining to become a Power Engineering unit with more than 12 000 employees.
