KEEPING PACE WITH POWER DEMANDS: New generation of MTU's 4000 Series engine designed to deliver 12% more power, operate more efficiently

When MTU Friedrichshafen began manufacturing its 4000 Series diesel engine back in the mid-1990s, the world was a different place. For example, in one of its primary market segments, mine haul trucks were in the 200 to 260 ton range. Along with that, the rules concerning engine exhaust emissions and noise were different, as the regulatory bodies were still in the early stages of establishing their evermore-stringent standards. A lot has changed in the intervening decade and, not surprisingly, the 4000 Series engine has been changing as well. The newest generation engines, recently unveiled by the Tongnum Group company, incorporate new technology features designed to allow them to meet the demands of customers and environmental legislation worldwide.
