We welcome the cheapest, most economical A3 Sportback that Audi makes to the fleet, with Victor Harman the new custodian of our upmarket economy express. As David Brent in The Office once said "You only get one chance to make a first impression" and our newly arrived A3 Sportback has so far barely put a foot wrong. Its elegant Ice Silver body lines are reminiscent of the old A3 Sportback, but with quite an edgy, more angular interpretation of a theme that's clearly 2013 and not 2008, when the old model had its last facelift. The car sits lower, feels more sporty inside, and oozes class, yet isn't lacking in the people space department, essential for a five-door family car, with good rear leg room and a practical cargo space to match. My wife and I both admire the refinement and generally superb quality of all the cabin fittings and we love the deep "thunk" of quality when the doors close perfectly, and reassuringly, with minimal effort.
