German engine builder Deutz has recently been involved in the repowering of 40-year-old diesel-hydraulic locomotives with its 620 series diesel engines The locomotives concerned are type V200..1 BxBy units formerly used by the German national railways Deutsche Bahn and now known as the type PEG V 270 by the new operator, EBW (Eisenbahn-Bewachungs GmbH) of Wurzburg. They feature twin powered, dual-axle bogies (German "BxBy" or U.K. "Bo-Bo" wheel configuration), and are in the process of complete refurbishment at locomotive builder OMB Ostmecklenburgische Bahnwerk GmbH, based in Neustrelitz, Germany.
