Braking Energy For Rail Cars: Artemis, Bombardier and Ricardo to collaborate on energy recovery research

Artemis Intelligent Power Ltd., Ricardo UK Ltd., and Bombardier Transportation UK Ltd. are jointly developing a brake energy recovery system for railway applications. The Digital Displacement Rail Transmission with Flywheel Energy Storage project combines Artemis' Digital Displacement hydraulic pump/motor technology with Ricardo's high-energy density flywheel storage system. Bombardier Transportation is providing its rail engineering and system integration expertise to the project.
