POOLING WISDOM, PRODUCING RESULTS: Progress toward improving Brazil's public transportation system

The role public transportation plays in urban areas in Latin America has increased significantly over the past several years. The ever-fluctuating global economy and buoying price of fuel has forced many commuters to rethink their methods of personal transportation and resort to public options. However, due to this increase in demand, the availability and quality of service provided have declined, causing problems that some areas are simply not equipped to deal with.
